EDUCATION FOR

COEXISTENCE AND PEACE


CONCEPT
Education for coexistence and peace is a process that involves intentional,
systematic and continuous actions aimed at personal and collective development
through frameworks that generate alternative ways of thinking, feeling and
acting. This process means strengthening the capacity to face conflicts from a
creative and nonviolent perspective and living consciously the values ​of equality,
justice, respect, freedom and solidarity.
THE OBJECTIVES OF EDUCATION FOR
COEXISTENCE AND PEACE ARE
REFLECTED IN THE DIMENSIONS OF IT:
PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT

Acquire personal skills (self-knowledge, self-esteem, autonomy and self-


control) and social skills (empathy, assertiveness, active listening, respectful
treatment, decision-making) necessary to have constructive and peaceful
interpersonal and social relationships.
HUMAN RIGHTS:

Know human rights, analyze the conditions to exercise them and recognize
situations of injustice, discrimination, oppression and violence in different
contexts, specifically for reasons of gender, race, socio-economic situation,
culture.
DEMOCRATIC VALUES

Understand the meaning and practically learn equality, freedom, participation,


solidarity, justice, compassion ... as values ​that constitute the basis of a society
in peace.
TREATMENT OF CONFLICTS

Learning theoretically and practically strategies to facilitate dialogue and


negotiation, resolve conflicts ... as tools for the construction of positive
coexistence and peace.
INTERCULTURALITY
Learn to dialogue between cultures from the assertion of their own culture and
respect for all other cultures as a way of peaceful coexistence between people
and peoples.
NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL
CONFLICTS AND PROCEDURES FOR
THEIR SOLUTION.

Know and analyze the main conflicts, as well as the models used, possible and
desirable for their solution. Analyze wars, terrorism and abuse of power as
violent and unjust ways of resolving conflicts.
