Under Any Conditions
John Klotter

Prasad Rawale, Roll no 43

What the book is all about??
• It’s a fable revolving around a colony of
Penguins set in Antarctica.
• Our focus of discussion is on the life of penguins
living in the frozen Antarctica on an ice berg
which had been there for many years.
• The ice berg is about to break apart into pieces
endangering the whole community.
• But the book narrates about a group of
Penguins, who in adverse conditions manage to
save of themselves, using the Eight Steps in
changing times.
Eight Steps Process of successful change

• 1. Create a Sense of Urgency.

 Help others see the need for change and the
importance of acting immediately.
• 2. Pull together the Guiding team.
 Make sure there is a powerful group guiding the
change-one with leadership
skills,credibilty,communications,ability and authority.
• 3. Develop the Change Vision and Strategy.
 Clarify how the future will be different from the past
and how you can make that future a reality.
• 4. Communicate for Understanding and Buy In.
 Make sure as many others possibly understand
and accept the vision and the strategy.

• 5. Empower to Act.
Remove as many barriers as possible so that
those who want to make the vision a reality can
do so.
• 6. Produce Short term Wins
Create some visible, unambiguous successes as
soon as possible.
• 7. Don't Let up.
Press harder and faster after the first
success.
• 8. Create a new Culture.
Lessons of Fable learned in our daily life….

• Act Smartly.
• Achieve more with less confusion and lower
stress.
• General sense of being in control through
understanding about what is going around.
• Understand that the Melting of ice berg comes in
dozen of forms: product ageing, decreasing
quality of services, a business strategy that
makes little sense and new one whose
implementation is sinking….

and lead to even more better results.

about situation

significant change in behavior.

can prosper greatly.
