Relationship between Genital

Hygiene and Pathological Vaginal


Discharge in the Vocational School
Students at Askhabul Kahfi Gunung
Pati Semarang Year 2016
• Problems of reproductive health is often found in the life
cycle of women, various problems of reproductive health in
women starting from the menstruation cycle, amenorrhea,
dysmenorrhe, vaginal discharge and so on. Vaginal
discharge itself is physiological thing in the women’ life
cycle, but this physiological vaginal discharge can change
into pathological if the female organs are not kept clean
properly.
Bacterial vaginosis is a major cause of pathological vaginal
discharge, the prevalence of it up to 48%. It is
encounteredkinds of populations in the world Bacterial
vaginosis is found in the women sexuallywithout active
indication are 9-50.9%, in the pregnant women are 4.9-
52%, and in the teenagers are 13-31.9%
• In this research we used a sample of teenagers in the
Islamic School because there are a lot of students,for
sure it is not impossible that some of them
definitelyhave less aware of the importance of the
health. Therefore it is not surprising that a disease will
quickly spread to members of the Islamic School
community. Therefore, every member of the
community needs to know and understand the health
problems, both to maintain their individual and
simultaneous health. Reproductive health of the
teenagers is determined by how they are care for and
maintain the cleanliness of their genital devices.
• Purpose: This research aims to determine Relationship between Genital Hygiene
and Pathological Vaginal Discharge of the Vocational School Students at
AskhabulKahfiGunungPati Semarang Year 2016. The researcher conducted
preliminary research by interviewing 10 female students of AskhabulKahfi and the
data gained was 4 girls (40%) had normal vaginal discharge and 6 female students
(60%) experienced abnormal vaginal discharge such as excessive vaginal discharge,
itchy vaginal discharge, which the color was yellowish until the greenish. It was
taken from 6 female students (60%) who experienced abnormal vaginal discharge
(pathological), 5 female students (50%) did Genital hygiene in a bad condition, and
1 female (10%) did Genital hygiene well or in a good condition.
• RESEARCH METHODOLOGY
Research methodology of correlation study with cross
sectional approach, conducted in Vocational School at
AskhabulKahfiGunungPati Semarang
• Analysis of univariate test showed that most of
respondents had hygiene behavior with no hygiene of 74
students (86%) and had pathological vaginal discharge of 62
students (72.1%). Analysis of bivariate test with Chi square,
it was obtained that p-value = 0,000, so there is relationship
between genital hygiene and pathology whiteness.
• Conclusion: There is relationship between Genital
hygieneand pathological vaginal discharge.
