 Traditionally Malay
dance that originated in
Malacca.
 It was influenced by
Portuguese dance of
Branyo which believed
that to have been spread
through spice trade.

dance in Malaysia
Zapin

 Malay Dance also most


popular dance in Malaysia
( especially Southern
Malaysia )
 It is believed to have been
introduced by Arab
Muslim missionaries from
the Middle East in the 14th
century.

gambus, accordian, rebab,
marwas, rebana dan dok.
Sumazau

Chinese culture.
 It represents beauty, grace
and delicacy.
 Like most other from of folk
dance, the Chinese fan
dance developed as a way to
share to share stories,
preserve the culture and to
communicate feelings and
emotions without words.
Bharatanatyam Dance

 Major genre of Indian


Classical Dance that
originated from Tamil
Nandu
• It consist of tailor fitter
brilliantly colored Sari,
with special pleated cloth.
• Have seven stage of
performance called as ‘
argam’ ; Alarippu,
Jatiswaram, Shabdam,
Varnam, Padam, Thillana,
etc.
