Course Objectives

The course aims to develop students


ability to understand the theories and
insights of management control
systems and also to analyse to make
relevant decisions for organisational
development.
Module 1.Introduction-role of MCS- Management control v/s
strategic control/tactical control.

Module 2. Framework of MCS: cybernetic approach-essentials of


design for MCS-factors influencing steps & design of MCS.

Module 3.Environment & MCS: goal –strategy & organization for


adoptive control-Organization structure.

Module 4.Responsibility centers management.

Module 5.Management control tools-budgeting and budgetary


controls. Budget-steps in preparation-fixed-flexible-zero based-
MBO-budgets as a tool to control.
Module 6.Transfer pricing: introduction, methods-international
transfer pricing- problems.

Module 7.Strategic cost management-marginal costing-related


issues-managerial decision making.

Module 8. Management control in organization-MCS in (1) MNC’s,


(2) agribusiness organization, (3) plantation companies, (4)
commercial banks and (5) NBFCs.
