Disaster Management Cycle

 Disaster Management cycle includes sum of all activities,


programs which can be up before, during and after a disaster
with the purpose to avoid a disaster reduce its impact or recover
from losses.

 The three key stages of that activities that are taken up within
disaster risk management are as under:

 Before a disaster (pre-disaster)


 During a disaster(Disaster Occurrence)
 After a disaster(post Disaster)
1.Before a Disaster
 Activities taken to reduce human and property losses
caused by a potential hazards.
 For example carrying out awareness campaigns
strengthening the existing weak structures.
 Preparation of the disaster management plans at household
and community level.
 Such risks reductions measures taken under this stage.
2.During a Disaster
 Initiatives taken to ensure that the nee island provisions of
victims are met.
 Suffering is minimized.
 Activities under taken this stage are called emergency
response activities
3.After a Disaster
 Initiatives taken in response to a disaster with a
purpose to achieve early recovery.

 Rehabilitation of affected communities immediately


after a disaster strikes.

 These are called as response and recovery activities.
