 Differentiate the characteristics of animal and plant cell.
 Identify and name at least six organelles in the cell.
 Match effectively the function to the organelle on a cell model.
 Build a three-dimensional model of a plant or animal cell.

PARTS OF THE CELL

All living beings are made of cells. They


are the building blocks of all living beings.
The term "cell" was coined for the first time
by Robert Hooke in the sixteenth century
when he studied different objects using
newly invented microscopes. Cells are
made of many different components called
organelles.
Animal and plant cells have
many organelles in common,
but some organelles also have
features that are different in
plant cells.
