6 Documents Required for Material
Receiving Inspection
 Purchase Order.
 A commercial document and first official offer issued by a buyer to a seller, indicating types,
quantities, and agreed prices for products or services.
 Delivery Note.
 A document accompanying a shipment of goods that lists the description, and quantity of the
goods delivered.
 Vendor Approval Letter.
 A letter that certifies the supplier is approved by Saudi Aramco.
 Material Test Certificate.
 A document that certifies that the supplied material is according to all applicable standards.
 Material Technical Approval Letter.
 A letter that certifies that supplied material is approved for the specific project.
 Material Requisition:
 A material requisition form lists the items to be picked from inventory and used in the production
process or in the provision of a service to a customer, usually for a specific job.
 IFC Drawings.
Drawings that justifies the quantity and use of received material.
7 Cable Storage, Handling and Preservation

 Handling
 Cable reels shall be checked for damage by store yard personnel prior to
acceptance of shipment, unloading, or handling.
 Manufacturer's special handling instructions shall be followed.
 Cable reels shall be shipped and handled on edges of flanges only (not on flat side of
flanges).
 Storage and Preservation
 Firm dry support shall be provided for storage of cable reels.
 Cable ends shall be sealed (water and dust-proof seals) and firmly secured during
shipping and storage.
 Cable reels shall be stored away from chemicals and petroleum products.
 Cable reels shall be supported off the ground and provided with a weatherproof (i.e.,
rain and dust-tight) cover.
8 General Requirement for LV Power
Cable
 Cable and wire shall be rated 600 V.
 Cable and wire shall have a minimum temperature rating of 90°C dry locations and 75°C for
wet locations.
 Cable and wire for industrial locations shall be stranded (regardless of size).
 Control conductor cross-sectional-area shall be 2.5 mm² (14 AWG), or larger.
 Power conductor cross-sectional-area shall be 4 mm² (12 AWG), or larger.
 Marking - Cable and wire shall be externally marked by the manufacturer to indicate
 Maximum rated voltage
 Type letters for the cable and/or wire.
 Manufacturer’s name, trademark, or other distinctive marking
 M/C Cable - quantity and size
 Cables with a neutral conductor that is smaller than ungrounded
9 General Requirement for MV Power
Cable
 Each phase of multi-conductor cables shall be permanently identified.
 Reels shall be made of steel, or, alternatively, shall be heavy duty wood
reels.
 Substitution of IEC cable with AEIC cable, if IEC cable is specified, and vice
versa, is prohibited.
 The outer sheath (jacket) shall be polyvinyl chloride (PVC), suitable for 90°C
maximum rated conductor temperature.
 Minimum size of MV cable shall be 10mm² (8 AWG).
 Conductor and insulation screening is required for all cables.

defects occurred during transportation.
 High Voltage Cable shall be in accordance with the Saudi Aramco-
approved project-specific design drawings, diagrams, schedules, lists,
databases, and associated design documents.
 Check that the end cap (seal) of cable are heat-shrinkable.
 Check that the cables are supplied from acceptable manufacturers.
 Wires and cables shall have copper conductors. Aluminum conductors are
permitted to be used in community areas for sizes 25 mm² or larger.
