EMBEDDED SYSTEMS
An embedded system is a computer system
designed to perform one or a few dedicated
functions often with real-time computing
constraints.
It is embedded as part of a complete device
often including hardware and mechanical
parts.
Controlled by one or more main processing
cores that are typically either microcontrollers
or digital signal processors(DSP).
The program instructions written for
embedded systems are referred to as
firmware.
EMBEDDED SYSTEMS

Embedded system also

includes VLSI, CPLD,
FPGA, PLC.
Application areas
include automotive
electronics , aircraft
electronics, military
applications like SSDS,
medical systems,
telecommunication etc.

WHAT IS MICROPROCESSOR &
MICROCONTROLLER:-
Microprocessor: It is a programmable integrated device
that has computing & decision making capacity.

Microcontroller: It is a device that includes

microprocessor, memory & I/O signal lines on single chip.
AVR Micro controller

The Atmel AVR is a family of RISC micro controllers from ATMEL. The AVR
architecture was conceived by two students at the Norwegian Institute of
Technology and further refined and developed at Atmel Norway.

The AVR is a Harvard Architecture CPU.

What dose AVR RISC mean:-
 The AVR has been reported to stand for: Advanced
Virtual RISC and also for the chip's designers: Alf-Egil
Bogen and Vegard Wollan who designed the basic
architecture at the Norwegian Institute of Technology.

 RISC stands for reduced instruction set computer.

CPU design with a reduced instruction set as well as a
simpler set of instructions.
