Pediatric Chronic Kidney Disease–Mineral and Bone Disorder (CKD-MBD) is a systemic disorder caused by chronic kidney disease that results in abnormalities in bone and mineral metabolism and can lead to extra-skeletal calcification. Children with CKD may experience growth impairment and bone fractures or deformities. Current treatment aims to minimize complications to the growing skeleton and prevent extraskeletal calcifications by treating hyperphosphatemia and secondary hyperparathyroidism through nutritional vitamin D supplementation.

Disorder Pediatric Chronic Kidney Disease– Mineral and Bone Disorder • CKD-MBD describes a broader clinical syndrome that develops as a systemic disorder of mineral and bone metabolism due to CKD, which is manifested by abnormalities in bone and mineral metabolism and/or extra-skeletal calcification Anak dengan CKD dapat mengalami : 1. Gangguan pertumbuhan 2. bone-specific morbidity secondary to renal osteodystrophy, including fractures and bone deformities. Pathogenesis of CKD-MBD Therapeutic approaches in CKD-MBD • Current pediatric renal osteodystrophy treatment paradigms aim to minimize complications to the growing skeleton and prevent the extraskeletal calcifications that define CKD-MBD. • Therapeutic approaches focus on the treatment of hyperphosphatemia and secondary hyperparathyroidism. • Hyperphosphatemia • Secondary hyperparathyroidism • Nutritional vitamin D supplementation • Fibroblast growth factor 23
