Wildlife Resources Conservation and Protection Act
• c.) to pursue, with due regard to the national interest, the Philippine
commitment to international conventions, protection of wildlife and
their habitats; and
• - Critical habitats
• j.) Exotic species – means species or subspecies which do not naturally occur
in the country

• k.) Export permit – refers to a permit authorizing an individual to bring out wildlife from
the Philippines to any other country;
• l.) Gratuitous permit – means permit issued to any individual or entity engaged in
noncommercial scientific or educational undertaking to collect wildlife;
• n.) Import permit – refers to a permit authorizing an individual to bring or has naturally
established population in the country
• p.) Introduction – means bringing species into the wild that is outside its natural
habitat;
• q.) Reexport permit – refers to a permit authorizing an individual to bring out of
the country a previously imported wildlife;
• w.) Wildlife – means wild forms and varieties of flora and fauna, in all
developmental stages, including those which are in captivity or are
being bred or propagated;
• For the export of wildlife species - fee of not greater than 3% of the
export value, excluding transport costs, shall be charged. In the
determination of the fee, the production costs shall be given due
consideration.
• Fees and charges shall be reviewed by the Secretary every two (2)
years or as the need arises and revise the same accordingly,
subject to consultation with concerned sectors.
Sec. 22 Determination of
Threatened Species
• The secretary shall determine whether any wildlife species or subspecies is
threatened, and classify the same as critically endangered, endangered,
vulnerable or other accepted categories based on the best scientific data
and with due regard to internationally accepted criteria, including but not
limited to the ff:
• PENALTY
• a.) IMPRISONMENT of a minimum of 4 yrs and 1 day – 6 yrs and/or a FINE of
P50,000 – P500,000, if inflicted or undertaken against species listed as critical;
• PENALTY
• 1.) IMPRISONMENT of 2 yrs and 1 day – 4 yrs and/or FINE of P5,000 –
P300,000, if inflicted or undertaken against species listed as critical;
• 2.) IMPRISONMENT of 1 yr and 1 day – 2 yrs and/or FINE of P2,000 –
P200,000, if inflicted or undertaken against endangered species;
• 3.) IMPRISONMENT of 6 mos and 1 day – 1 yr and/or FINE of P1,000 –
P100,000, if inflicted or undertaken against vulnerable species
• 4.) IMRPISONMENT of 1 mo and 1 day – 6 mos and/or FINE of P500 –
P50,000, if inflicted or undertaken against species listed as other
threatened species; and
• 5.) IMPRISONMENT of 10 days – 1 mo and/or FINE of P200 – P20,000, if
inflicted or undertaken against other wildlife species.
• f.) COLLECTING, HUNTING or POSSESSING WILDLIFE, their by-products and derivatives;
• g.) GATHERING or DESTROYING OF ACTIVE NESTS, NEST TREES, HOST PLANTS and the
like;
• PENALTY
• 1. IMPRISONMENT of 2 yrs and 1 day – 4 yrs AND a FINE of P300,000, if inflicted or
undertaken against species listed as critical;
• 2. IMPRISONMENT of 1 yr and 1 day – 2 yrs AND a FINE of P20,000 – P200,000, if inflicted or
undertaken against endangered species;
• 3. IMPRISONMENT of 6 mos and 1 day – 1 yr AND a FINE of P10,000 – P100,000, if inflicted or
undertaken against vulnerable species;
• 4. IMPRISONMENT of 1 mo and 1 day – 6 mos AND a FINE of P5,000 – P50,000, if inflicted or
undertaken against species listed as other threatened species;
• 5. IMPRISONMENT of 10 days – 1 mo AND a FINE of P1,000 – P5,000, if inflicted or
undertaken against other wildlife species.
• In case of par (f), where the acts were perpetuated thru the means of inappropriate techniques
and devices, the MAXIMUM penalty provided shall be imposed.
• h.) MALTREATING and/or INFLICTING OTHER INJURIES NOT COVERED
BY THE PRECEDING PARAGRAPH; and
• PENALTY
• 1. IMPRISONMENT of 6 mos and 1 day – 1 yr AND a FINE of P50,000 –
P100,000, if inflicted or undertaken against species listed as critical species;
• 2. IMPRISONMENT of 3 mos and 1 day – 6 mos AND a FINE of P20,000 –
P50,000, if inflicted or undertaken against endangered species;
• 3. IMRPISONMENT of 1 mo and 1 day – 3 mos AND a FINE of P5,000 –
P20,000, if inflicted or undertaken against vulnerable species;
• 4. IMPRISONMENT of 10 days – 1 mo AND a FINE of P1,000 – P5,000 if
inflicted or undertaken against species listed as other threatened species;
• 5. IMPRISONMENT of 5 days – 10 days AND a FINE of P200 – P1,000, if
inflicted or undertaken against other wildlife species.
• All wildlife, its derivatives or by-products, and all paraphernalia, tools
and conveyances used in connection with violations of this Act, shall
be IPSO FACTO forfeited in favor of the government.
• Where the ownership of the aforesaid conveyances belong to third
persons who have no participation in or knowledge of the illegal acts,
the same may be released to said owner.
