Hormonal Regulation
of Male Reproduction

Hormone:
 GnRH = Gonadotropin-
Releasing Hormone
 LH = Luteinizing
Hormone
 FSH = Follicle-
Stimulating Hormone
 Testosteron

Synthesis of ABP
(Androgen Binding Protein)
Effects of
Testosterone
Sel Sertoli Perform the Following Function
Essential for Spermatogenesis
1. The tight junction between adjacent sertoli cells form
a blood-testes barrier.
2. Because the secluded developing sperm cells do not
have direct access to blood-borne nutrients, the
sertoli cells provide nourishment for them.
3. The sertoli celss have a phagocytic function.
4. The sertoli celss secrete into the lumen seminiferous
tubule-fluid, which “flushes” the released sperm form
the tubule into the epididymis for stroge and further
processing.
5. Sertoli cells secretion a Androgen-Binding Protein
6. Sertoli cells are the site of action for control of
spermatogenesis by both testosterone and FSH.
