WHAT TO EVALUATE?

What is Evaluation?

 Evaluation means to as certain the growth


and changes, taking place in pupils as a
result of teaching learning experiences. To
evaluate means to characterize the work
or value of something. It is a methods of
determining the extent to which
established goals or objectives have been
achieved .
What to Evaluate?

Goal and Objectives
-The foundation to which any educational
program is develop clearly in its goals and
objectives. All the process and mechanism
needed in designing a curricular or a
program are based on these goals and
objectives. And they have to be evaluated
primarily to determine if they are
achievable in result in their desire outcome.
 2. Content and Methodology
- Content of the developed curriculum
need to be examined and evaluated in
order to determined whether they relate
with needs of the learners as well as to
determine the appropriateness of the
content.
 3. Outcomes/Result
- The evaluation of outcomes or result
goes hand in hand with evaluation.
These serve as the ultimate measure
how successful or effective the
curriculum has been in achieving its
goals and objectives. It is also used in
improving the curriculum as a whole.
Forms of Evaluation
 1. Formative Evaluation
- formative evaluation is to monitor student
learning to provide on-going feedback that can
be used by instructors to improve their teaching
and by students to improve their learning.

 help students identify their strengths and


weaknesses and target areas that need work
 help faculty recognize where students are
struggling and address problems immediately
 2. Summative Evaluation
- its goal is to evaluate student learning at the end of
an instructional unit by comparing it against some
standard or benchmark. Summative evaluation are
often high stakes, which means that they have a high
point value.

Importance of Evaluation
Teaching:
 Evaluation is concerned with assessing the
effectiveness of teaching, teaching strategies, methods
and techniques. It provides feedback to the teachers
about their teaching and the learners about their
learning.
Curriculum:
 The improvement in courses/curricula, texts and
teaching materials is brought about with the help of
evaluation.
Society:
 Evaluation provides accountability to society in terms
of the demands and requirements of the employment
market.
