HISTORY
The first commercial flight in India was made on February 18,
1911, when a French pilot Monseigneur Piguet flew airmails
from Allahabad to Naini
In the early fifties, all airlines operating in the country were
merged into either Indian Airlines or Air India
By virtue of the Air Corporations Act 1953, this monopoly
continued for the next 40 years
The Directorate General of Civil Aviation(DGCA) controlled every
aspect of aviation
Finally, the Airports Authority of India (AAI) was assigned the
responsibility of managing all national and international airports

 India is one of the fastest growing aviation
markets in the world
The Airport Authority of India (AAI) manages a
total of 127 airports in the country
There are 1091 registered aircrafts in the country
The estimated growth of domestic passenger
segment is at 50% per anum
Growth for international passenger segment is
25%
The international cargo is likely to grow at a rate
of 12%.

It was found in 1953. Today one of the
largest regional airline systems in Asia with a
fleet of 62 aircraft.

Its network spans from Kuwait in the west to


Singapore in the East and covers 75
destinations - 57 within India and 20 abroad.

Annual turnover is around 4000 cr.


Jet Airways has emerged as India's largest
private domestic airline.

Famous among frequent travellers for its highest


quality of comfort, courtesy and standards.

It has a market share of 25%.

Jet was voted ‘Best airline’ for two years.


JetLite , formerly Air Sahara, owned by
Jet Airways.

 It operates 110 flights daily. The airline


also provides helicopters which are
available for charter services and aerial
photography.
Kingfisher Airlines, through its parent
company United Breweries Group, has a
50% stake in low-cost carrier Kingfisher Red.

Kingfisher operates more than 375 daily


flights to 71 destinations.

It has a market share of 28%.
