Stroke
Stroke
Did you know that there are steps that you can take to
reduce the risk of getting a stroke?
First, have your blood pressure checked regularly - at
least once a year if you are under 45 and once every
six months if you are older.
Take your blood pressure medication exactly as your
doctor prescribes it.
Reduce salt in your diet – eat fresh food rather than
processed foods that contain a lot of salt. Look for
low sodium or sodium-free foods.
Eat more fresh fruits and vegetables.
Exercise regularly. Exercise at least 20 minutes three
times a week.
Finally, quit smoking. Within five years of quitting,
your risk of getting a stroke will be the same as
someone who never smokes.
