The Lab School of Washington is situated
in the Palisades neighborhood of
Washington, D.C.

The Lab School spans two

campuses, just a half-mile apart.
An athletic center includes a pool
and gym. the main campus,
which houses the intermediate
division, junior high and high
school, is on Reservoir Road, while
the elementary school campus is
on Foxhall Road.
The Lab School values its progressive
philosophy of education that for 50 years
has guided project-based learning for
students with average and above
intellectual abilities whose minds need to
be nourished while they take the extra time
they need to acquire proficient reading
and writing skills.
1 BACKGROUND
Progressivism is the educational philosophy
which is grounded in the “pure” philosophy
of pragmatism.

It was established in America from the mid

1920s through the mid 1950s.

 Progressivism focuses on real-world

problem solving and individual
development.

He is a principal figure in Progressivism movement
from the 1880s to 1904, and set the tone for
educational philosophy as well as concrete school
reforms.

One of his tenets was that the school should

improve the way of life of our citizens through
experiencing freedom and democracy in schools
