Introduction
■ DTH stands for Direct-To-Home

■ The reception of Satellite programs with a personal dish in


an individual home
■ It is a digital satellite service that provides television service

■ DTH does away with the need for the local cable opertor and
puts the broadcaster directly in touch with consumer
■ A wireless digital/video service is delivered through satellite
History of DTH

■ The first person who invented the technology for DTH was
sir.ARTHUR CHARLES CLARKE,a british inventor in late 1946
■ 1996:DTH service first proposed in india
■ 2000:DTH was allowed with new Policy
■ DOORDARSHAN was first to provide the service to the
consumer from 1st of April

■ The programming source are simply, the
channels that provide programming for
broadcast
■ Satellite TV provider gets programming from
two major source; International channels &
various local channels
■ These channels usually have a distribution
center that beams their programming to a
geostationary satellites
