The Use of Computer as Learning
Media Generally Follows The
Instructional Process as Follows:
1)Plan, organize and schedule teaching
2)Evaluating students (tests)
3)Collect data about students
4)Perform statistical analysis of learning
5)Makes notes on development of learning (groups or
individuals)
Computer-Based Learning Principles
1)Oriented to Learning Goals
2)Oriented to Independent Learning
3)Oriented to Complete Learning
Computer-Based Media Rule in
Learning
The use of computer-based media in learning has benefits, including:
1) Learner can work independently according to their level of ability or in
small groups
2) More effective for explaining new material that is interactive
simulation so that learners can get interesting experience
3) Existing assessment can provide quick feedback on students to find
out their abilities on a particular problem or material so that it can be
used as summative assessment.
4) With the technique of solving a problem, students will have their own
way to solve the problem with the same material with their friends. This
is very useful for problem solving in the next material
Types of Computer-Based Learning
Media
1)Multimedia Presentation
2)Interactive Multimedia
The Purpose of Using Computer in
Learning
1)Cognitive Goals
2)Psychomotor Goals
3)Affective Goals
Lack of Computer
Developed in a limited dialogues so that is cannot answer all
students problem
Still relatively expensive
Unable to see students techniques in answering questions and
reinforcement is certain
The development requires not a small amount of money, time
and efforts
The speed of development of computer technology requires
continuous upgrading
Assessment does not consider whether students are tired, sleepy
or sick
Computer cannot replicate teacher behaviour for example
smiles, hand, and body movements, etc
Behind Computer Reliability as
Learning There are Several Problem
1) Hardware-software are expensive and fast outdated
2) Technology that is rapidly changing, makes it possible for
devices purchased today to be outdated a few years later
3) Making a complicated program and in the initial operation
need a companion to explain its use
The instructional process of computer
as learning media
1) Plan, organize the schedule teaching.
2) Evaluating students.
3) Gather data about students.
4) Perform statistical analysis of learning data.
5) Makes note on the development of learning ( groups or
individual )
Instruction for displaying for
displaying computer based media
test
a) Computer screen or monitors are not payer, but dynamic
display that move change with damage land.
b) The screen may not be too dese-divide into several
impressions on simply and slowly and add to reach the
desired stage of complexity.
c) Choose normal font, don’t use capital letters and lowcase
letters, don’t use all capital letters.
d) Use between seven to ten words per line
e) Don’t chop words at the end of line.
Interaction in computer based
learning environment
1) Short instructional order that can be adjusted.
2) Answer or responses of student work.
3) Customable feedback.
Advantages computer based
learning media
Computers allow students to learn according to their ability and
speed in understanding the information displayed.
To use of computer in the learning process allows students to
control their activity.
Provides flexibility for students to determine the speed of
learning.
The ability of a computers to display information needed by the
user.
Computer can be programmed to able provide feedback on
learning outcomes.
Disadvantages computer based
learning media
The high cost of producing also developing computers
programs.
Hardware requires high relative costs.
Compacability and incompability between hard and
software ussusally requires appropriate specifics.
Aims computer applications
• Typing (word processing)
• Graphic design and creation
• Data storage
• Data processing
• Telecommunications through the network
Advantages Computer Assisted
Instruction (CAI)
a) Enable the delivery of teaching materials
b) Facilitate and shorten the time in teaching
c) Save costs on paper expanses
d) Pronding better knowledge and easier to remember.
Disadvantages CAI
a) Requires more time in preparing everything
b) Requires high skill and creativity fro teacher
c) At one time they could provide students with different
level of focus, so that it would be difficult to listen
information
Learning process works using CAI
1) Preparing teaching materials
2) Deliver the materials using computer software
3) Deliver the materials using CAI media
4) Instruct students in learning become active and creative
5) Instruct students to draw conclusions in the learning
process.
