INTRODUCTION
• GMR Varalakshmi Foundation (GMRVF), is the Corporate Social Responsibility arm of the
GMR Group. It’s objectives are to develop social infrastructure and enhance the quality of life
of communities around the locations that has the Group’s presence. This non-profit (Section
8) company has its own professional staff selected from top academic and social work
institutions, is governed by a Board chaired by Group Chairman, GMR Group.
• Vision: To make sustainable impact on the human development of under-served communities

through initiatives in education, health and livelihoods.
• GMRVF focus on 1. Education
2. Health, Hygiene & Sanitation,
3.Empowerment & Livelihoods,
4.Community Development.
OBJECTIVE
The main objective was to collect data and information for GMR Varalakshmi Foundation from those urban
slums which are lying within a radius of 10 to 30kms of Terminal 3 International airport New Delhi.
• The study included:-
• Identification of the basic living structure of those people in the slums.
• The problems faced by the in those areas.
The other important objective was making people aware about the support provided by the GMR VF.

FINDINGS
BAGDOLA VILLAGE
Bagdola is a village in dwarka sector 8, west delhi, with a population of around 2800 people. The village
majorly has Yadav Caste people. Its headed by Surendra pradhan Village. The village area consists of four
blocks and is divided between DDA ( Delhi Development Authority)
• Village premise are clean.

• Dispensary is avalible nearby.
• The crime rate is low.
• Proper drainage facility is available.
• It has a MCD school upto 5th standard.
• Families of the village manage to send their kids to nearby private schools.
• MCD school has a good number of students, and after 5th standard they go to govt school of palam and
shahbad village for further studies.
• There are no issues regarding the pension allotment to senior citizens and widows as it is taken care by
MCD.
• The nearest police station is in dwarka sec 9.
SAWDA, GHEVRA VILLAGE
Sawda is a village in delhi. India. It is near to the bahadurgarh. The village is dominated by jat
community belonging to surname rana. These ranas are all decendent of great maharana pratap.
There are some families with dabas gotra also. This society is dovelop when the airport of delhi
build up. Government of India, shift the people who were use to live there in that area to sawda.
GMR opened their instituted to very near to the society of sawda, so that they can help the people
of sawda.
ACTIVITIES RUNNING IN THE GMR INSTITUED SITUATED IN SAWDA
• Balwadi: balwadi at GMR runs on the concept of preschool education for slum kids in the age group of 2
to 6 years.
• For handicapped students they enable them to live and learn the important things like mom, dad, brother
etc. The company gives them hearing aid to who are not able to hear properly.
• In the institute they organize self defense training for women and teach them what is right touch and what
is wrong touch.
• The phycians are called to help the children with disability in speaking and hearing.
• The institute help citizen of the village in making adhar card , pan cards and all other necessary
documents.
• Teachers in the institute celebrates birthday of the special kids as their parents feel they are not meant to
take with themselves to normal kids birthday or does not have enough money to celebrate it.

• Lady gynecologists’ visits the center on alternates days as the women of the village are not allowed to
visit male doctors.
• Delhi women police officers conducts seminar on women protection and the teachers of the institute
make sure that the ladies of the village attended the seminars which are for the benefits for themselves
where they are thought to fight against domestic violence and how the officers can help if there are any
situations like this happens with them.
• People working in the institute gives tuition to those children who are basically in 5th standard as per their
age but according to the mental age they are not able to catch themselves with the other children they
teach them according to the NCERT textbooks of the different classes to ensure that they also match with
level of children of their age group.
• People of GMRvf come to celebrate festivals with them and gifts them with presents which each students
write in the letter.

MEHRAM NAGAR
• Lack of drainage facility.
• Lack of medical facility.
• Un Employment (women).
• Widows pension not available.
• High crime rate.
• Youth of the area is majorly in to alcoholism and drugs.
• Most of population are drivers and are getting low income.
SHAHBAD MOHAMMADPUR
Shahbad Mohammadpur is a Locality in South West Delhi City in Delhi State, India.
• Lack of drainage system.
• Lack of transport system.
• High Crime rate.
SAMALKHA VILLAGE
Samalkha is a Locality in South West Delhi City in Delhi State, India. Hindi is the local language here.
Population of the village is 8000 and more
• Lack of drainage system.
• Lack of sanitation facility.
• Lack of medical facility.
• High crime rate.
• Terrible living condition.
RAJOKRI VILLAGE
• There was no cleanliness around the area
• The houses were very well built.
• Students were reaching their homes via School buses, richshaws.
• No water or electricity problem
• Few people have their own 'kirana shops' and others work as cab drivers etc.
• Ladies work as tailors which helps them to earn better for their family.
• Every child of the house attends school, however there was no special focus on physically disabled kids.
• Crime rate was very low as the residents told.
Dwarka Sector 14 & 15
• Cleanliness was the only issue in this area.
• This place has many schools & colleges.
• well equipped with banks, hospitals, petrol pumps, hostels
• Transportation was not a problem and easily connected via E-rickshaws, buses.
SUGGESTIONS
BAGDOLA VILLAGE
• The village doesn’t have any school mend for handicap children and
• Handicapped Students School
• lacks the facilities such as vocational training center for women who wish to learn and work outside their
home
• Training Center for women
MEHRAM NAGAR
• Youth of Mehram Nagar needs to know the importance of education and involved them in the Nasha
Mukti Kendar so the problem of drugs and alcohol can be solved.
• Introduction of a de-addition centor
• The ladies of the communities can be taught self defenses in order to protect themselves in any kind of
situation.
SAMALKHA VILLAGE
• The drainage problem is main which has to be solved by either involving external agencies or by
spreading awareness among the ruling party member of that area so that he can ask MCD to solve the
Drainage problem, The center for women where they can learn knitting and stitching so that they can earn
some amount of money in order to help their children study well so that they can come out of this
conditions and live a happy life.
• The connection of water supply should be made 24 *7 for the communities by setting of tube well or
providing them with tankers on daily basis.
SHAHBAD MOHAMMADPUR
• Provide drinking water facilities.
• Provide drainage facilities.
