Roof elements are installed by the carpenters.

Note joists and rafters both sit


on the wall plate. Truss clips can be used to connect the rafters to the wall
plate

A purlin is used where the span of the roof is too great and requires extra
support. Rafter notched to connect to purlin wall plate

The wall plate must be fixed to the wall to prevent lifting through adverse
weather. Note how the rafters are notched when fixed to wall plate.

Roof ready for roofing felt and timber battens. Note the galvanised restraining
straps that fix the roof to the gable
Lead flashing to prevent water ingress between roof and external brick wall
Rooflights (Velux) or similar may be added at this stage
Roof structure completed and ready for the roof tile installation
