 American Revolution, also called United States War of
Independence or American Revolutionary War

 It happened between 1775 and 1783

 Insurrection by which 13 of Great Britian’s North


American colonies won political independence and
went on to form the United States of America.
 The rebels were waging a full-scale war for their
independence

 Until early in 1778 the conflict was a civil war

strength

 These soldiers were called minute men because they


had to be ready to go to a battle within a minute
 They were also messengers

 The Minutemen were better organized and battle-
tested than any other part-time military. They were a
vital and necessary force, playing a crucial role in not
only the Revolutionary War, but in earlier conflicts.
Without these "ready in a minute" men, our history
may have been written in a very different way.
