HISTORICAL BUILDINGS 

1. The Taj Mahal, India. The most famous monument for love: emperor Shah Jahan built this white marble 

wonder in the memory of his dead wife.
2. Angkor Wat, Cambodia. The monument was built in the 12th century and is the biggest Hindu, as well as the biggest 
religious temple complex in world.
3. Moai, Easter Island. Carved by the Rapa Nui people, the monolithic sculptures were made 
between 1250 and 1500. Scientist still are not sure how the giant figures were made and brought 
here.
4. Wat Phra Si Sanphet, Thailand. The royal temple was built in 1448 A.D. It is a very well preserved ancient 
wonder.
5. Chichén Itzá, Mexico. The city was the center of Mayan civilization from A.D. 750 
to 1200. The Temple of Kukulkan is the most famous monument.
6. The Colosseum, Italy. The impressive arena could have held 50 000 
spectators, who came to watch the fighting gladiators. Built in A.D. 70, the 
Colosseum is a marvelous Roman heritage.
7. Machu Picchu, Peru. The city was built in 15th-century and is the most exciting 
heritage of the Inca civilization. The fabulous landscape opens from the spot.
8. The Great Pyramid of Giza, Egypt. The oldest monument of the Seven Wonders of 
the Ancient World, the pyramid is the biggest one in Giza Necropolis.
9. Petra, Jordan. Carved in the rock, Petra is sometimes called the rose of the desert. It was 
the capital of the Nabataean kingdom from 9 B.C. to A.D. 40.
10. Hagia Sophia, Turkey. At the beginning of its construction in 532 it was a 
basilica, later it became a mosque and now this beauty serves as a museum.
