THE TRAIT THEORY
This theory purely believes
that the leadership traits or
personal attributes of a
successful leader are
‘inherited’ or ‘in-born’ and
these cannot be acquired
by learning.
LIMITATIONS OF TRAIT THEORY
• Does not hold good for all
circumstances.

• Traits are not uniform and

different authors have given
different traits.

• There is no proper equilibrium to

compare different traits.

• Some outstanding leaders who

do not have the qualities
specified by the authors but have
become successful leaders
