History of Tulip
The Tulip was originally a
wild flower, growing in
Central Asia.
It was first cultivated by the
Turks as early as 1000 AD
introduced in Western
Europe and the Netherlands
in the 17th century by
Carolus Clusius

How to Plant Tulips
Select tulip varieties and types by flower color.
Purchase high-quality bulbs, free of bruises or soft spots.
Chill the bulbs, if necessary (some come prechilled), by placing them in a paper
bag and keeping them in the refrigerator for six to eight weeks.
Select a sunny planting location.
Prepare the soil, if necessary, by incorporating ample organic matter.
Dig holes 2 1/2 to 3 times as deep as the bulb is wide, usually about 4 to 6
inches deep.
Add bulb fertilizer to the bottom of the hole.
Place the tulip bulb in the hole, pointed side up, root side
down.
Water the bulbs thoroughly.
