Santa Marta is located close to shores
of the caribbean sea in the state of
Magdalena in the northern of
Colombia.
 HISTORY

It was founded on July twenty-nineth, one

thousand five hundred and twenty-fifth by the
Spanish conquistador Rodrigo de Bastidas.
Bastidas identified Santa Marta as a favorable
place to develop an urban center. At that time
they built the cathedral, the customs house
and the seminary of San Juan Napomuceno.

Santa Marta performs in july the traditional festival of the sea,
