CLIENT – CIVIL ENGINEER RELATIONSHIPS
WHICH IS BETTER, PUBLIC OR PRIVATE?
PUBLIC SECTOR
• Engineers working within this sector will find a variety of contexts, such as
highways, rivers, and the military.
• Being able to directly affect your local area and even the wider area, by
producing top quality work.
• Hours within the public sector tend to be a lot less demanding than in the
private sector.
• Government jobs earn a higher pay in comparison to those in private sector
jobs.
• A guaranteed pension scheme.
• Engineers who work for the public sector have a much higher degree of
security and can enjoy a certain level of protection against closures and
hostile financial conditions.
PRIVATE SECTOR
• Better lifestyle in a private sector as compared to govt. sector.
• Getting a govt. job is tough when compared to private job.
• You can work and settle at a place, in govt. job you may be transferred
throughout the state or country.
• One gets more responsibility and better learning opportunity as compared to
govt. jobs. Better growth opportunity in private sector compared to govt.
sector.
OBLIGATIONS OF THE CIVIL ENGINEER
• “The Civil Engineer shall perform Scope of the Services as
stated in SECTION 2.”
• “The Civil Engineer shall exercise reasonable skill, care and
diligence in the performance of his obligations.”
• “The Civil Engineer shall act independently and, as required by
the contract, perform with the necessary skills and professional
judgment, when required to certify, decide or exercise discretion
between the Client and a Third party with whom the Client has a
contract”
