Moringa oleifera

(malunggay)
Moringa oleifera (malunggay) is the most widely
cultivated variety of the genus Moringa.
It is of the family Moringaceae. It is an exceptionally
nutritious vegetable tree with a variety of potential
uses.
Moringa derives from a Tamil word, murungai,
meaning "twisted pod", alluding to the young fruit.
Moreover, its common names include moringa,
drumstick tree (from the long, slender, triangular
seed-pods), horseradish tree (from the taste of the
roots, which resembles horseradish), and ben oil
tree or benzoil tree (from the oil which is derived
from the seeds).



• In addition, this tree has branches with tiny green
leaves stemming from them. It also produces long
green pods that look like large okras.



• There are many products which uses moringa
oleifera leaves as its main ingredient such as
medicines, herbal food products. An example can
be the "malunggay tea" which is widely popular in
the Philippines. It is drank by people who want to
get the various nutrients that the malunggay
leaves contain.


To make the said tea all you'll need is a pan, wire mesh
sieve, water, and of course, the malunggay leaves.
