EXAMPLE
Back in the fifteenth century, in atiny village near
Nuremberg, lived a family with eighteen children. Eighteen! In
order merely to keep food on the table for this mob, the father
and head of the household, a goldmisth by profession, worked
almost eighteen hours a day at his trade and any other paying
chore he could find in the neighborhood. Despite their seemingly
hopeless conditions, two of Albrecht Durer’s the Elder’s children
had a dream.
A. His closing words were, “And now, Albert, blessed brother of
mine, now it is your turn. Now you can go to Nuremburg to pursue
your dream, and I will take care of you.”
B. They both wanted to pursue their talent for art, but they knew
full well that their father would never be financially able to send
a either of them to Nuremburg to study at the Academy.
C. Finally, Albert rose and wiped the tears from his cheeks. He
glanced down the long table at the faces he loved, and then,
holding his hands close to his right cheek,he said softly, “No,
brother.”
EXAMPLE
WHAT IS THE CORRECT ANSWER?

THE ANWER IS, OPTION B!

Pay attention to the last sentence of the paragraph. And usually the last
sentence is usually the conclusion of paragraphs that are marked with words
like finally, at the end, at last, etc. but not all sentences that begin with these
words are the last sentence.

Then the right answer is b, because a although it is preceded by finally but

does not fit the context of the previous sentence. Option c does not fit the
context of the sentence at all. Option b is preceded by they both which
correspond to the last fragment of sentence, two.
