Kinds
There are two kinds

Research proposal •
Business Proposal
Research Proposal

A research proposal is
usually academic in nature.

Professors or the school
desires to obtain grant in
response to a request or a
research proposal.

Academic institutions submit
it.
Business Proposals

These proposals are
related to the business of
any organization. These
may require knowledge
about problems, solutions,
specific work to be done.

Solicited

Solicited proposals are
normally prepared at the
request of both internal
and external parties
Unsolicited

Unsolicited proposals are
normally prepared by an
individual group or an
organization on there on
with a request for funding
assistance, service etc.
Internal

Internal proposals are
prepared and submitted to
superiors in the same
organization.
External

External proposals are
prepared and submitted to
external agencies like
government departments,
external funding agencies

organization.

Memorandums are usually referred to as
memos.

Memos have no salutation line and no
signature area at the end.
