• Spotify is a music streaming service
that provides digital rights
management-restricted content
from record labels and media
companies.
• Music can be browsed or searched
by artist, album, genre, playlist, or
record label and is similar to one of
its competitors, iTunes.

• Daniel Ek and Martin Lorentzon first started the idea of Spotify in Ek’s
apartment, which is where they worked for months in 2005.
• Spotify released its first beta to the public in 2007.
• In 2008, Mark Zuckerburg described Spotify as “so good.”
• Spotify is finally launched to the United States in summer of 2011.
• By the summer of 2015, Spotify had 75,000,000 total users.
