The Simple Past Tense is used to
indicate an action completed in past
time.
It is often followed with adverb of time
such as yesterday, two days ago, last
year, this morning, last night, etc.
FORMULAS
For positive sentence,
Pattern : Subject + Verb 2 + Object
Examples :

Last night, the rain pour heavily.
For negative sentence, instead of using Verb 2, we write “did
not” followed by Verb 1.

Examples :
• They did not stay in a hotel.
• He did not go anywhere yesterday.
• I did not sleep well last night.
For interrogative sentence, we begin with “did” (for Yes/No

WH questions + did + Subject + Verb 1 + Object ?
Examples:
• Did you get up late this morning?
• Where did you go last holiday?
• How did you go here?
