• On every writing assignment, I
grade using the five standards
that you must learn:

• 5. Organization
Focus
• Make sure you follow all
requirements in a paper (Spacing,
Page Length, Directions)
• Stay on Topic throughout each
paragraph (Unity)
• Address every question in an essay
or assignment that is being asked of
you.
Content
You must provide detail, facts,
examples, and support for your
paper. So content deals with
your ability to write on a topic
with accuracy.

-Examples
Conventions
• When you write, you must be
aware of mechanics. So be
aware of:
1. Spelling Errors
2. Grammar Errors
3. Sentence Structure Errors
Style
• This is the hardest criteria for all
writers.
• Style deals with using a variety of
words to write!!! AVOID USING THE
SAME WORDS OVER AND OVER AND
OVER AND OVER AGAIN!

HOW DOES A WRITER IMPROVE
STYLE?
ORGANIZATION
• Make sure you arrange your
paragraphs properly. (You never want
to have ONE paragraph for the entire
paper.
• Use transitions to help move your
paper from one sentence to the next.
• Always make sure you have an
introduction, body (supporting
paragraphs), conclusion.
