INTRODUCTION TO PROBLEM

 Traffic is increasing day-by-day in

our country. In metropolitan cities
traffic congestion is most common
problem.

 Due to this congestion severe

accidents happens leading to loss of
our friends and families.

 The present day traffic system

provides fixed time for all lane no
matter the density of vehicle is.
EXISTING WORK
PROPOSED WORK
 The prototype works on changing delay of traffic
signal based on detection of different density levels.
 Level 1 : Low Dense Traffic
 Level 2 : Moderate Dense Traffic
 Level 3 : Extreme Dense Traffic

 There are several IR sensors placed at certain

distances on a single lane to detect different traffic
levels. Group of such IR sensor is placed at each lane.

 As vehicle stops behind the junction, input detected

by combined 3 IR sensor are sent to microcontroller.

 The microcontroller perform its function according

to algorithm programmed and glow traffic signal LED
according to density.
PROJECT PLAN
 Week 1 & 2 : Preparing and prototyping normal traffic light
signal system with constant delays and to ensure normal work.

 Week 3 & 4 : Preparing dynamic code for proposal traffic light

signal. Embedding prototype with IR sensors to detect traffic
density.

 Week 4 & 5 : Finalizing and implementing mechanism to

overcome level traffic density problem using ESP8266.
EXPECTED OUTCOME
 There is expected change in delay of traffic light based on
density as detected by IR sensors.

 The delay is expected to decrease if traffic density is less in

a particular lane.

 The delay is expected to increase if traffic density is more

in a particular lane.

 On extreme traffic density, a message needs to be delivered

on to traffic control room.

Expected reduction in traffic congestion by 37%
