SAFET Y MEASURES IN
HANDLING DIFFERENT
TOOLS, EQUIPMENT AND

TO AVOID ACCIDENTS:
• Remove loose mat that may cause a passerby to slip.
• Clear the things which may cause narrowing of the passage
way.
• Repair damages on the floor surfaces. For example, broken
tiles must be replaced with the new ones to secure even
floor.
• Outlets and cords must be placed where nobody can be
blocked or slip off.
• Workers must be trained to reduce the loads to be
carried. Use trolleys for heavy loads.
• It is also advisable to use rough tiles on the bathroom
floors.
• In dusting at heights, use long handled dusters.
• Improve lighting
• Put and store item tools and equipment within easy reach.
• Wipe up spills (water or chemical)
• Repair broken steps, stairs or paths.
• Workers must wear non-slip footwears.
IN KITCHEN AND BATHROOM; TO AVOID
BURNS AND SCALDS

• Scald - injure with very hot liquid or steam.


• Burn - an injury caused by exposure to heat or flame.
• Check the appliance cable before plugging in. there might be some
damages in cords which might cause burn.
• Do not immediately get the microwaved food from the microwave
unless it has been cooled a little.
• Be conscious of hot water system. Identify the maximum and
minimum heat.
• When filling tubs with water, start filling with cold water first then
hot.
• Avail a fire extinguisher and fire blanket in an establishment or even
at home.
• Avoid using cups or appliances with slips.
• Avoid placing hot item near table edges or benches.
• Check the appliances if it is still functioning before using.
TIPS TO STAY AWAY FROM ACCIDENTS
WITH CHEMICALS
• Use chemicals for its correct usage.
• Avoid using mixture inside unlabeled containers.
• Follow the instructions written on the label of the containers.
• Read the instructions very well before using the chemicals.
• In bleaching laundry, use it with care. It might splash with chemicals.
• Turn on exhaust fans and open windows whenever working with
chemicals. It might cause suffocation.
THINGS TO CONSIDER IN ELECTRICAL
SAFETY

• Use power switches rather than double adaptors.


• Examine all equipment regularly. Check the test electrical cords
before using.
• Identify damaged cords and replace it at once.
• Avoid using heater and portable fans in bathroom.
