Being a good person is not enough!!!

What does God think of that?
• Isaiah 64:6 – All our good works are like filthy rags
• Romans 3:10-18 – There is no one righteous
• Romans 3:23 – All have sinned
• Mathew 5:27-28 Adultery begins in the heart
• James: 2:10 – you need to keep the whole law and not even stumble
in one
Will keeping the ten commandments take me
to heaven?

• It is not that simple

• The law (10 commandments) was a way for God to show us our true
identity.
• The law arouses sinful passions. Romans 7:5
• We would not have known sin except though the law. Romans 7:7
The true purpose of the law
• Galatians 3- 19 – 25
• It points us to the need of a savior.
• It stops boasting.
• It eradicates self righteousness
• It makes you humble

How are we than saved?
• Through faith in the grace of God
• What is grace:
• Unmerited, unearned and undeserved favour.
• Romans 3:28
• Romans 4:3-5
• Romans 5:1
How were we saved?
• Through what Jesus did on the cross
• Romans 5 : 6-8- While we were still sinners Christ died for us.
• Why did He have to die?
• Without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness of sin.
(Hebrews 9:22)
• Ephesians 1:7 – Redemption through his blood
What do I need to do now?
• Confess and know that you are a sinner
• Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you shall be saved
• You are eternally saved.
• Hebrews 10:14 – perfected forever.
