speak but in reality strength is to listen.”
Listening Vs Hearing

2. Hearing is physiological act
3. Listening in psychological act.
Human’s Mind Meaning Machine
How We Create Meaning
Humans create two different types of meaning to events .
First is meaning we give to pattern of events.
Second is meaning we give to specific events.
First type of meaning becomes your beliefs and are present in your life as reality of what I
am…or people are…. Or life is….
Second type of meaning is occurring's of life, when these events happen to us we believe are not
able to distinguish between actual event and what occur to us.. we believe latter is true always.
Discover Possibilities
1. When you look beyond beliefs and occurrences as your reality, you start discovering
possibilities.
2. Your reality is changed now and you are ready to work with new possibilities.
3. You become effective in dealing with situation when you drop meaning in your mind in the
form of beliefs and occurrences.
4. You see more possibilities for problem solving.
5. Meaningless events cannot cause feelings, as a resultant you get rid of negative feelings as
well.
6. Create distinctions between events and your meanings to discover new possibilities.
Validation of Others
1. Imagine you tell somebody, “I’m really scared,” and they look at you and they say, “Oh, you
shouldn’t be scared. There’s nothing to be scared of.” How do you feel?
2. Now, imagine you’re telling somebody something that happened, and you’re telling them
how scared you were and they look at you and they say, “I see You were really scared. I am
with you” how do you feel now ?
3. Not validating feelings closes down listening.
4. When you validate somebody’s feelings, they feel seen and heard, and in my experience,
that’s what people really want.
