Savanna Biome Facts

• The savanna biome is an area that has a very dry season and
then a very wet season. They are situated between a
grassland and a forest.
• They are mostly located near the equator.
• The largest savanna is located in Africa. Nearly half of the continent
of Africa is covered with savanna grasslands.
• Other major savannas are located in South America, India, and
northern Australia.
Animals live in the Savanna
Biome
• Buffalo, wildebeest, plain zebra, rhinos, giraffes, elephants
and warthogs are among other herbivores of the African
savanna.
• Carnivores include lions, leopards, cheetahs, jackals, wild
dogs and hyenas.
• Termites are especially abundant in the tropical grasslands
of the world.
Savanna Plant Life
• The savanna is covered by grasses such as Rhodes grass, red oats
grass, star grass, lemon grass, and some shrubs.. There are various
types of trees that will grow in particular areas of a savanna biome.
They include pine trees, palm trees, and acacia trees.
