The 4M’s of Operations:

MANPOWER

This refers to the workforce. This


workforce will help a business to
produce more products.

It is necessary for an entrepreneur to


hire good, competent and
trustworthy people to produce
quality products.
MACHINE

This refers to the devices and equipment


used to perform specific types of work.
A machine usually uses energy
(electricity) to perform a task.

Example: in food industries, food


processors are indispensable in
producing products.
MATERIAL

This refers to the anything used as inputs to


productions or manufacturing. This includes
finished products and even unprocessed
raw material (cotton, palay, etcetera).

Raw materials are first harvested, extracted,


and processed to produce semi-finished
materials.
METHOD

This refers to the ways of producing a


particular product from raw materials.

Methods may be traditional, such as


manual production, or it may be
machine-assisted or automated.
