EXPLANATION

Today , you are going to

identify safety precautions
during certain weather
conditions.
 Stay hydrated. Drink plenty of fluids; drink about
16 ounces before starting and 5 to 7 ounces
every 15 or 20 minutes.
 Wear protective clothing. Lightweight, light-
colored and loose-fitting clothing helps protect
against heat. Hat ,umbrella will help too .Also
wear sun glasses to protect your eyes from the
heat of the sun.
 Schedule frequent breaks. Take time for rest
periods and water breaks in a shaded or air
conditioned area.
 Use a damp rag. Wipe your face or put it around your
neck.
 Avoid getting sunburn. Use sunscreen and wear a hat if
working outside.
 Be alert to signs of heat-related illness. Know what to
look for and check on other workers that might be at
high risk.
 Avoid direct sun. Find shade or block out the sun if
possible.
 Eat smaller meals. Eat fruits high in fiber and natural
juice. Avoid high protein foods.
 Follow a healthy diet
 During the monsoon, your body is prone to
infections. Most diseases in the rainy season are
waterborne and drinking filtered or boiled water is
essential. Avoiding raw foods like salads is also
beneficial to stay healthy in this season.
 Wear good quality footwear
 One of the most important precautions to be taken
during the rainy season is to ensure that you are
wearing footwear that does not slip easily, or you
 Wear raincoats and umbrella
 Avoid eating street foods
 Eating street food is one of the biggest causes of
various diseases in the monsoon. Outside foods are
prepared in unhygienic conditions and are prone to
various infestations. It is recommended you consume
hot home-prepared food to stay healthy.
 Keep mosquitoes out.Stagnant water results in
mosquito breeding. It is important to ensure you keep
them out. Maintain cleanliness at home to avoid
mosquitoes.
 Prepare For Flooding or Mudslides
 If you live in low-lying areas, you should take the necessary
precautions and prepare for flooding during a storm. Keep
sandbags handy and move anything valuable upstairs in
case your home floods. If your home is at risk of mudslides,
keep an evacuation kit handy just in case you need to vacate
your home at short notice.
 Don’t Use Your Mobile
 Keep cell phone calls to a minimum, especially if you’re
outside. Your cell phone can act as a lightning rod, and if
lightning strikes, your phone will carry the electrical current
 Forget Your Umbrella
 As much as you’ll want to avoid getting wet during a
thunderstorm, you’ll probably want to avoid getting struck by
lightning even more. Using an umbrella during a lightning storm
is extremely dangerous, as the metal becomes a target for
lightning bolts. Carry a waterproof rain jacket instead and
remember that your safety is the most important thing.
 Stay Indoors
 If it’s really pouring outside, the best way to stay safe during
stormy weather is to stay indoors. Make sure you keep spare
candles, torches and battery packs just in case the electricity
cuts out, and enough food supplies to keep you going for 2-3
days if you live in a remote location.
 Cut and gather dead tree branches and cut
down dead trees on your lot
 Postpone all unnecessary travel.
 Watch out for debris carried by the wind.
 Do not burn dried leaves.
 Do not wear thin clothes
 Do not go for a walk under big trees.
GRADE 4 (ENGAGEMENT)
I will divide you into 2 groups.
Group 1 : Pantomime safety precautions
during sunny , and windy days.

Group 2: Present a RAP identifying the

safety precautions during rainy and stormy
days.
