HOW TO GET CERTIFIED?
To gain a MCITP Certification, you must learn the
required things according to the MCITP Curriculum
and then sit an exam of some sort. Depending on what
MCITP Certification you are doing, the amount of
exams that you must pass varies between two and five.
Each of these exams will be focused on one aspect of
the MCITP Certification you are aiming towards.
Format of exam.
 There is no given format of the MCITP Exams from Microsoft themselves.
What is known though that you could have any one of three different
exam formats, being short standard, standard and adaptive.
 Short Standard exams are 20 to 30 questions long and last for about 1
hour.
Standard exams are 50 to 70 questions long and last for about 1.5 hours.
Adaptive exams are 15 to 30 questions long and the length varies.
 All different kinds of MCITP Exam formats contain a range of questions
which may be of single or multiple answer multi-choice, active screen, drag
and drop, build list and reorder, case study or a terminal simulation.
 Microsoft doesn’t tell candidates what MCITP Exam format they will get as
they believe that you should understand the exam content regardless of
how it’s tested. This allows Microsoft to change the MCITP Exam format
and questions at there own will which helps exam security and also the
value of the MCITP Certification.
How to book exam?
 You book your MCITP Exam online through prometric.com.
This site requires that you create an account with them.
Once you have this account you can then search or browse
for your local Microsoft testing centre. Once you have
selected your testing centre you can these view the available
time slots in which you can book your MCITP Exam.
Payment for the exam is done at time of booking and is paid
by credit card.
 You can schedule MCITP Exams using this method for sitting
your exam on the same day or for months ahead. Bookings
can also be done via phone if you prefer using contact details
of the testing centre which should be listed on prometric.
You can reschedule or cancel your exam at anytime up until
the last 24 hours free of charge or full refund.
Where can I go to sit my MCITP
exam?
 You can go sit your exam at any Microsoft approved
testing centre, usually this will be a Prometric testing
centre as they are partnered with Microsoft.
Depending on your location, there may be a testing
centre nearby or maybe a couple of hours drive away.
 In order to gain a MCITP Certification, you
must pass anywhere between two and
five exams. This number varies depending
on what specialization you are doing, for
instance if you are aiming towards one of
the support technician specializations,
you must only pass two exams whereas if
you are aiming towards the Enterprise
Administrator specialization, you must
pass five exams.

 Where as the old Microsoft exams would expire if
you did not sit a “refresh” exam within three
years, the MCITP does not expire on the same
policy. The new MCITP credential only expires
when Microsoft ends their mainstream support of
that particular technology. For instance, if you
get certified as a MCITP:Server Administrator in
Windows Server 2008, your certification will
remain valid until Microsoft stops mainstream
support for Server 2008, which is planned for
2013. In saying that, just becuase the MCITP
credential expires, it does not mean it is
worthless, it still reflects your level of
knowledge with that technology, which most
likely has a large over-lap with the new
technology.
