• Food processing, in many cases,

involves transport inside pipelines,
as well as heat and mass transfer
between foods to be processed and
heating/cooling media, as well as the
surrounding environment.
• Fluid mechanics is an important part in the food
industry in terms of the processing. Applications
of fluid mechanics:
- Conveying liquids just like syprups, oils, milk,
and etc.
- Homogenizing and mixing liquids & semi-
solids just like pastes, molten chocolate.
- Sterilization and pasteurization
- Preservation just like freeze drying.
- Hydraulic instruments and machinery
