UG NX

• Introduction:-
In 1972 it was initially released UNI-APT . In 1973 it again developed
and named as Unigraphics (developed by Siemens PLM Software) . In 2002 both I-DEAS and
Siemens released the software and named as NX. In 2007 they introduced Synchronous
Technology .
• Defination of NX:-
It is feature based , fully parametric , unidirectional , interactive , CSG based , High End
Software .
• Capabilities:-
Mechanical Design/Simulation
Electromechanical System Design/Simulation
Engineering Process Management (Teamcenter)
Industrial Design & Styling
Package Design
Tooling and Fixture
Inspection Programming
SIEMENS NX (CAD/CAM/CAE):
•Nx is the commercial CAD/CAM/CAE PLM
software suite developed by Siemens PLM
software.
•Used in the engineering industry , especially
in the automotive and aerospace sectors.
•Nx is aparametric solid / surface feature-
based modeler.
•Uses the para solid geometric modeling
kernel.
Definition of CAD/CAM/CAE:-
• Computer Aided Design-CAD:-
CAD is technology concerned with using computer system to assist in
the creation , modification , analysis and optimization of a design . Any
computer program that embodies computer graphics and an application
program facilitating engineering function in design process can be
classification as CAD software.
The most basic role of CAD is to define the geometry of design-a mechanical
part ,a product assembly , an architectural structure , an electronic circuit , a
building layout etc.
• Computer Aided Manufacturing-CAM:-
CAM technology involves computer system that plan , manage, and control
the manufacturing operations through computer interface with the plant’s
production resources.
One of the most important area of CAM is numerical control
(NC) . This is the technique of using programmed instructions to control a
machine tool , which cuts , mills , grinds , punches or turns raw stock into a
finished part.
• Computer Aided Engineering-CAE:-
CAE technology uses a computer system to analyse the function of a
CAD-created product , allowing designer to simulate and study how the
product will behave so that the design can be refined and optimized.
CAE tools are available for a number of different type of analyses. For
example , kinematic analysis program can be used to determine motion
paths and linkage velocities in mechanisms. Dynamic analysis program
can be used to determine loads and displacements in complex
assemblies such as automobiles. One of the most popular methods of
analyses is using a finite element method (FEM).
