Essentials for NX Designers as the initial class, is designed to launch students on the path of

productivity. This course is designed to meet the student's expectation to transfer classroom
instruction to productivity on the job.

Computer-aided design (CAD) is the use of computers (or workstations) to aid in the

creation, modification, analysis, or optimization of a design.

Computer-aided engineering
Computer-aided engineering (CAE) is the broad usage of computer software to aid
in engineering analysis tasks.

Computer-aided engineering (CAE) is the use of computer software to simulate performance

in order to improve product designs or assist in the resolution of engineering problems for a
wide range of industries. This includes simulation, validation and optimization of products,
processes, and manufacturing tools.
A typical CAE process comprises of preprocessing, solving, and postprocessing steps. In the
preprocessing phase, engineers model the geometry (or a system representation) and the
physical properties of the design, as well as the environment in the form of applied loads or
constraints. Next, the model is solved using an appropriate mathematical formulation of the
underlying physics. In the post-processing phase, the results are presented to the engineer for
review.
 Stress and dynamics analysis on components and assemblies using finite element
analysis (FEA)


Thermal and fluid analysis using computational fluid dynamics (CFD)



Kinematics and dynamic analysis of mechanisms (multibody dynamics)



Acoustics analysis using FEA or a boundary element method (BEM)



1D CAE, or mechatronic system simulation, for multi-domain mechatronics system design



Mechanical event simulation (MES)

Control systems analysis
Computer aided manufacturing (CAM) software is a tool/program that uses numerical
control (NC) to create detailed instructions (G-code) that drive CNC machines. CAM
software streamlines the machining process and automates actions like drilling and cutting,
which makes it ideal for high-quality manufacturing.

Simulation of manufacturing processes like casting, molding and die press forming
Optimization of the product or process

Synchronous Modeling and Parametric Design (SMP) aims to capitalize on the designers
heightened skill level and propel his or her job productivity to the next level.
Parametric modeling is an approach to 3D CAD in which you capture design intent using
features and constraints, and this allows users to automate repetitive changes, such as
those found in families of product parts.

With Synchronous Modeling you can move faces, delete faces, offset areas, re-blend
faces, and make substantial modifications to an existing solid body.

Intermediate NX Designs and Assemblies

1. Fundamental knowledge of modeling concepts, including the use of

expressions, PMI, and part attributes.
2. Advanced knowledge of assembly concepts, including the master model
concept, assembly load options, exploded views, and arrangements.
3. General drafting skills.
Explicit means that the solution is performed with direct iterative calculations and Implicit
algorithms mean that the solution needs to be computed by adding another formulation(s)
