be manufactured in December 1, 1930. A few years later, I was launched in September 26, 1934. I was constructed by the John Brown and Company in Clydebank, Scotland. This is how I looked when I was being built. My overall length in feet is 1,019.5 ft. or in meters I am 310.74 m. I was able to hold 1,957 passengers at one time. In 1936 through 1939, I attracted many tourists
and people in this time over the world. I’ve also attracted British royalty and Hollywood celebrities. On May 25, 1936 the Duke and Duchess of Kent and the Duchess of Gloucester visited me. Also, I departed Southampton and arrived at Cherbourg, France in May 27, 1936. Finally, on August 30, 1939 I was carrying the largest amount of passengers which was 2,552. taken a trip on me, for instance, Bob Hope was a Actor and a comedian. Another passenger is Winston Churchill he was a British Prime Minister and traveled on me three times! Next, Edward VII and Wallis Simpson which were the Duke and Duchess of Windor. Edward VII was the son of Queen Mary, which was who I was named after! Finally, the last passenger was General Dwight Eisenhower which was the 34th president of the United States of America, he served as the 34th president from 1953 until 1961.

During World War II I was converted into
a troopship, or a ship that is used to carry soldiers. They even changed my color into gray, I was able to carry up to 15,000 soldiers and sailors! I departed New York and went to Sydney, Australia to be converted into a troopship in April 9, 1941. Later, I served as a troopship from March 1940 until September 1946! I was one of the largest and fastest troopship to sail on when I was serving.

After serving in World War II as a troopship, I
was converted again into an ocean liner. On February 15 through May 3, 1947 they tried to restore me to a passenger service. Walt Disney boarded me to attend the European Premier of Alice in Wonderland on June 15 through June 20, 1951. On February 1961, I transported 36 tons of gold and silver from South Hampton to New York. I was one of the most popular ocean liners. Popular Attraction in Long Beach
On July 27, 1967 Long Beach bid on me for
3.45 million dollars and was accepted. I was officially retired in 1967, and left Southampton on October 31, 1967, arriving in Long Beach on December 9, 1967. I sailed to Long Beach, California, where I served as a tourist attraction featuring restaurants, a museum, and a hotel. This is where I still am to this day, that’s over 50 years that I’ve been here!
