CB • Cannabinoid is used to decrease

pain, help control seizures, as
well as help with addictions. This
D does not give you the high.
Recreational or Abuse?

• Most times this use is just for fun, when hanging

out with friends or used to relax and take the
edge off.
• Abuse of the drug comes into play when using it
to supress feelings, and just not wanting to feel at
all.

• Recreational use can turn into a addiction,

using it daily before you notice this. All users
must use with caution, and not lose
themselves in the process.
Brain Effects

Using marijuana influences many parts

of the brain as we can see in the
picture
• It slows down abilities to learn and
retain information in the memory, and
also decreases motor movements.

• This drug intensifies hunger and

mental states, such as paranoia,
depression and anxiety. Negatively
influencing your thinking process.
Movies

Marijuana has always had mixed messages within

the world, especially in movies and music in
general.

• Most comedy movies have marijuana use as

people being “pot heads”, the users lives are
always fun and entertaining. Outsiders tend to
look down on them, but the smokers do not care.
Ex. Grandma’s Boy

• Then there are drama movies about your life

spiralling out of control after starting smoking
marijuana. These movies show that it is a
gateway drug leading to more serious addictions.
Ex. Thirteen
Music

Two different messages pertaining to

marijuana and music.

• First, the songs about how much fun

being high is. The great parties you
attended, crazy things you do, or forget
because of being high.

• Second, the addiction of the drug. The

depression that takes place because the
only way you can function is using the
drug. You only have one relationship, and
it is with marijuana.

D.A.R.E Campaign

This program was deemed ineffective in the

early 2000s, and has since been redesigned
to be effective.

• The old program made kids more curious

about drugs, instead of preventing drug
actions.

• With the new campaign of D.A.R.E., called

Keepin’ it Real, we can only hope that it is
more effective to the leaders of tomorrow.
