THE DIFFERENCE

BETWEEN ACTIVE
AND INACTIVE
VOLCANOES

GROUP 2
PRESENTATION
*ACTIVE VOLCANOES*
-An active volcano is a volcano that has had at least one
eruption during the past 10,000 years.
*INACTIVE VOLCANOES*
-An inactive volcano is one that could erupt but has not
erupted for more than 10,000 years. Inactive volcanoes are
also called dormant or sleeping volcanoes.
INACTIVE VOLCANOES*
-The most popular way for
classifying volcanoes comes
down to the frequency of
their eruption. Those that
erupt regularly are called
active, while those that
have erupted in historical
times but are now quiet are
called dormant or
(inactive). But in the end,
knowing the difference all
comes down to timing!
