Objective :
To implement non wrist strap at P1-2 EOL with compliance
on ESD requirement.

Reference Specs:
02-0000-2343 - ESD Control Procedure
001-0335-2329 - System - ESD Control
Requirements for Non wrist strap:
1) The floor shall be a conductive or dissipative material in order to get the continuous electrical circuit.

2) The personnel whoever enter to ESD protective area must be wearing conductive shoes/ground shoes
to comply the electrical continuous circuit for personnel grounding.

3) The personnel grounding shall be continuously monitored and the record of compliance shall be
maintained.
4) For seating operators, the ground shoes are not completed method for personnel grounding.
In this case, conductive chair can be an auxiliary tool to comply the personnel grounding.

5) The chair inside the ESD protected area shall be made of ESD dissipative/ conductive material.
The caster/wheels must be made of conductive material to ensure good contact and grounding,
on dissipative/conductive floor tile.

6) Conductive/dissipative chair should have identification and monitoring will be performed quarterly
by end user on actual use or set-up (with or without cover).
Test Requirements :
Item Test Test Equipment Spec limit
ESD protective footwear Personnel resistance Ohmmeter 0.5 to 100 Mohm
Flooring / Floor Covering Surface resistance Ohmmeter with 0 to 1000 Mohm
( Dissipative) 5 lb probe ( < 10E9 ohm)
Chair to floor surface resistivity Ohmmeter with < 10E9 ohms
5 lb probe
Chair
Chair static voltage measurement Electrostatic <+/-100 Volts static
Volmeter voltage
Personnel Voltage Static voltage of line personnel Charge plate <+/-100 Volts static
inside production line monitor voltage

Test Results :
1) P1-2 EOL Personnel are already using conductive sneaker and safety antistatic shoes for ME with below
sneaker specification, and personnel resistance reading using ohmmeter tester.
Conductive sneaker

Specification :
Brand Name : MAXCLEAN
Model No. : BCS Series
Conductive Resistance : 10E4 - 10E6 OHM/SQ
Safety antistatic shoes

Specification :
Brand Name : MIDORI
Resistance range : 0.1 M to 100 M Ohms

4) Line personnel inside the production line using conductive sneaker and ground safety shoes
(without ground strap) passed less than +/- 100V static voltage requirement.
Methodology :
1) Identify one person per station and activity with required ESD apparel and sneaker for non wrist strap.
2) Measure the static voltage that can be induced by line personnel inside the production line
during normal activities at EOL station.
Equipment Used :
Brand name : Trek charge plate monitor
Model Number : Trek 156A/1
Recall Number : EATA 3001

Summary of evaluation / validation test results
1.0 Maximum Voltage reading measured is 78 Volts during forward then backward movement
of push cart.

2.0 Movement of operator (walking, rubbing of sneaker on floor) will induce voltage reading,
no movement no voltage will be induced.

3.0 For seated operations, got reading of 19 Volts maximum due to sudden movement of chair
during the process.

Summary :
1) P1-2 EOL assembly line already using dissipative flooring with surface to ground resistance
of less than 1000 Mega ohms.

2) P1-2 EOL Personnel are already using conductive chair with metal caster wheels.
Conductive chairs resistance reading is less than 1000 Mega ohms and less than 100 V Static Voltage.

3) P1-2 EOL Personnel are already using sneakers / ESD foot wear within spec limit of 0.5 to 100 Mohm
resistance.

4) Static voltage induce by line personnel inside P1-2 EOL production line using the required sneaker / shoes
is less than 100 volts.
5) Non-wrist strap will not be applicable to RBOSCH line due to requirement of less than 50 Volts
personnel voltage during normal activities. We got reading of 56 volts without ground strap at Mold
during preparation of lots

6) For seated operations, P1-2 line will waive ESD Industry Standard ANSI/ESD S20.20 item 6.2.2.1
which required wrist strap for seated personnel, due to below reasons.

6.1 P1-2 line are already using conductive chair with metal casters for continuos grounding,
Resistance and static voltage reading measured are indicated in item 3.0

6.2 Static voltage reading measured during normal activities for seated personnel are less than
+/- 100 Volts.

Conclusion :
Recommend to implement non wristrap EOL process for P1-2, except RBOSCH line

For Raised production floor, need to verify if the floor surface to ground resistance is
meeting the 10E9 maximum resistivity (dissipative property)
