 Cebu is in the heart of the Philippines.
Known to be the Queen City of the
South, Cebu has is the oldest and
second most important city in the
country. Cebu is one of the top priority
of tourist because of its world-class
beach resorts and diving spots. Cebu's
tourist destinations and attraction are
found in both north and south of Metro
Cebu. Cebu has it's own international
and shipping port. Cebu has export
processing zones that are helps boost
up the economy of the country.
HISTORICAL BACKGROUND
 The name "Cebu" came from the old
Cebuano word sibu or sibo ("trade"), a
shortened form of sinibuayng hingpit ("the
place for trading"). It was originally applied
to the harbors of the town of Sugbu, the
ancient name for Cebu City
 Cebu City, the capital of Cebu, is considered
to be the oldest city in the Philippines. It is
also known as the oldest settlement
established by the Spaniards in the country.
Found in the island are rich traces of the
Philippine history left by mostly the
Spaniards.

bridges: the Marcelo Fernan Bridge and the Mactan Mandaue Bridge.

10) OSMEÑA PEAK
 Going south, you could climb the
Osmeña Peak of Cebu in Mantalongon,
Dalaguete (pronounced “Dalaget”).
Standing at 1,013 meters above sea
level, Osmeña Peak is the highest point
in the entire island. Lime stones that
have sharp protruding peaks which are
perfect for taking pictures make up
these hills.
 The peak is part of the Mantalongon
mountain range that stretches as far
as the municipality of Badian. It is
considered a twin to Bohol’s Chocolate
Hills.

Mactan) and in SRP (near SM Seaside).

Cebuano-Visayan term for “looking over

CASA VERDE CEBU
 is a Spanish- American combination
restaurant with three locations. The

Park and in Ayala Center Cebu.

“Casa verde” which means “green house”
in Spanish. The owners’ Spanish roots
inspire Casa Verde. Casa Verde’s first
branch is an ancestral house of the

there for the “homey” ambiance.

the food is definitely American -inspired.

roasted pig is the most popular delicacy of the region.

Sinulog Festival

Magallanes and Mactan Chieftain
Lapu-Lapu. The festival features
various activities highlighted by the

SEMANA SANTA SA BANTAYAN
Also known as “Pasko sa
Kasakit”, this festival is

Thursday and Good Friday in
the observance of the Holy
Week on Bantayan Island

TAGBO FESTIVAL
 19th of January (Poro, Camotes Island)
