Next Generation Science Standards

In second grade there are four main structures:

1. Structure and properties of matter
2. Independent relationship in ecosystem
3. Earth’s System: Processes that shape the earth
4. K-2 Engineering design
They are supposed to demonstrate grade-proficiency in:
1. Developing and using models
2. Planning and carrying out investigation
3. Analyzing and interpreting data
4. Constructing explanations and designing solutions
5. Engaging in argument from evidence and obtaining, evaluating, and
communicating information
Structure and Properties of Matter

● Planning and carrying out investigation

○ Has to do with hardness, texture and flexibility
● Analyze and interpreting data
○ Graphing
● Constructing explanations and designing solution
○ Having more than on solutions and being able to describe
and predict phenomena
● Engaging in argument from evidence
○ Execute a question
○ Teachers ask questions to agree/disagree the argument
