“Qualitative traits”

Qualitative
 is expressed qualitatively, which means that the phenotype falls into different
categories. These categories do not necessarily have a certain order.
 that pattern of inheritance for a qualitative trait is typically monogenetic, which
means that the trait is only influenced by a single gene.
 inherited diseases caused by single mutations are good examples of qualitative
traits. Another is BLOOD TYPE.
 the environment has very little influence on the phenotype of these traits.
• A qualitative traits is a trait that fits into discrete
categories.
• These types of traits are also referred to as discontinuous
traits and discrete traits, since there is no variation outside
of the specific, aka discrete trait classes.
For example:
if a flower is genetically programmed to produced blue flowers, it will
continue to produce blue flower no matter where and how they are grown.

 similarly, the blood group of a person does not depend on where he lives
or works.
